Displaying a Shapefile

I was wondering if it is still possible to load data from a shapefile. Coming from SharpMap, the provider that I would normally use was removed in 0.1.5 and I was wondering if there was a replacement.

There shapefile sample in Samples/Mapsui.Samples.Wpf. Unfortunately vector rendering is still slow for this much data.

Which provider did you use before? Did you use it as part of Mapsui or as part of SharpMap?

I previously used SharpMap's (got it to theoretically work) but then realized that SharpMap is only WinForms. But the sample should help me greatly, thank you!

One last thing: is it possible to 'close' a shapefile on panning? Right now it is a flat image (-180 to 180 degrees) and I want to display the shape from 160 to 200 degrees (over the cut). Is there a way to tile it or a flag to set?

This is not possible right now. It would need some modification of the renderer to do this, which needs a little thinking too. It is not something on my immediate todo list.
